Our hosts moved all our personal belongings

Our hosts moved all our personal belongings

We paid for three days use of a private room in our host's home.   Everything seemed fine the first night and we spent an enjoyable evening getting to know one another.  The next day we returned in mid afternoon to discover all our belonging had been moved into the closet - everything!   Underwear, toiletries, pajamas, a pillow, dirty socks ...   Items were placed inside our luggage, which means they opened our luggage as well.   It seems they had listed the home for sale and were showing it that evening.  We were notified through Air messaging after the fact.  They also asked us not to return to the room until after 6 pm,  when the showing would be over!    We were tired and needed some rest, but we tidied up after we left and honored the request.   Now at this point we had no idea what to expect.  Was this going to happen again?  The next day the hosts decided to move some furnishings and entered our room again, removing some tables and replacing them with a different table.  This time, no notice was given before or after, even though we had all been together just hours before this happened.

It appeared they were downsizing to help stage the home.  There was no dresser, no trash bin in the bathroom, a chair we had sat in to remove shoes was also removed.

In every other respect, our hosts were gracious and accommodating,  and did apologize for the moving of our belongings.

I don't think it's right to rent out rooms in a home you are selling, and especially wrong to move belongings, but would like to get the community take on this.

I will add that we said nothing, but we were in Canada where our data plans didn't work (so no AirBnB on the phones without additional cost) and on a very busy weekend where finding a new place would have been very difficult.

@Max500 Ckealry the answer is no, they should not have done this. Be honest in your review- nice hosts, nice place etc but entered your room without asking, and moved your personal belongings- including opening your luggage without asking in advance

No, your host doesn't have a right to enter the premises you rented, without your approval or in case of an emergency.

He should have scheduled the house showing between reservations, not during your stay.
