Paying in $Australian but incurring an international US fee

Hi,

I am in Australia. Last time I booked an Australian property on Airbnb I incurred a separate international money transaction fee. Is this normal? I looked through my settings but cannot find if I have set up something wrong.

I am also an Australian host and accept payment in Australian dollars so dont know why I am paying a currency conversion fee when I book.
