The process is a bit complicated but the people at the short stay department at city of portland were nice and helpful. You have to dot your i's and cross your t's but that is probably true everywhere.

Today Sept 9, 2019 an article  in  the Oregonian says AirBNB will start reporting the names of  all hosts that are renting .... short terms.....

I wonder if that will include all of us doing 31 days or more. So far long term rentals are not

paying Portland hotel taxes etc....

Is there somewhere on the site where AIRBNB is explaining  the new agreement with the City???

Portland AirBnB's are going to be subject to a big permit process. My problem is that I have a Portland address but am not actually in the city limits. I'm in Washington County Unincorporated. I don't pay any Portland taxes or get to vote in any Portland measures. I spoke to one person at the City who thought I am exempt and need to follow the requirements of my municipality not Portland. My problem is with AirBnB. I've now messaged with 2 different customer service people and they keep insisting I have to go through the permitting process. I've even sent them a screen shot of the map of the city limits with my home clearly outside the boundary. I'm being ignored at this point. Any suggestions? Anyone else having this problem?

Yes and I know 3 other people having the same issue. I am on my 3rd Customer Service person and I have called several other times.

Hi I have a small duplex in Hawthorne. I want to use my 2nd unit as an Airbnb, and The I live in the lower unit. the apartments have seperate addresses. So I'm trying to figure out how it works... I see apartments available, with permit numbers. How are they getting permits for whole apartments? Any body out there understand this? I have read everything that the city offers... But can't see how I can legally get a permit.

Thanks to anyone that can help!
