Refund of a Booking cancellation

I cancelled a booking in London. The cancellation policy is "Strict", meaning 50% of the accomodation will be charged when cancel. I talked to the landlord and she is willing not to charge me because it's still early now. However, the landlord said she will still be charged by Airbnb. Can someone tell me how Airbnb can refund her and also refund me the 50% penalty?

If its for the first time, you can email airbnb and explained the issue to waive the penalty. However, final decision is up to airbnb.
