Reinstatement of travel coupon.

I have to had to cancel my trip to the UK due to the Covid-19 outbreak - flights all cancelled. I used my Superhost voucher when I booked the accommodation. When I went to cancel the  booking, it says the coupons are non-refundable and I will not be able to use it in future.   You would think Airbnb could make an allowance in the current situation? I am not cancelling by choice.  I have tried to make contact with them - but all they do is send me the link to the coronavirus policy. Has anybody else come across this?Screenshot (168).png

@Caroline257  Perhaps they will make allowances for this, but I imagine they have their hands full with all the cancellations right now. Maybe you'll get it back-I hope so. But since it isn't urgent, it might be better to wait a bit to try to take it up with them. There are going to be tons of hosts and guests alike who have travel coupons that will expire as long as travel is restricted and this virus wreaks havoc- I'd think Airbnb will have to address this at some point, extending the dates and returning vouchers to those who had to cancel due to COVD19, like you.

I am so sorry about that. Airbnb is currently engaging in quite a bit of unethical business practice at the moment in effort to reabsorb some money. I just posted this in the forum:

"A number of Superhosts have travel coupons set to expire on July 1, 2020. Airbnb is refusing to extend the expiration date or offer a new coupon and instead  is "encouraging" Superhosts to travel. In some cases, such as mine, this would go against state orders. In nearly all cases, this forces Superhosts to make a choice  between getting to use the coupon they earned and ensuring their personal safety. Both cases are unethical. I have heard from someone in the main office that the reason Airbnb is doing this is so that they can reabsorb that money. If you cannot travel and/or do not feel safe, at least support another host, perhaps a stranger, and book a stay even if you won't actually stay. Don't let Airbnb take advantage of its Superhosts!"
