Rent out AirBNB to host minor party?

Hey guys, so this is my first experience checking out AirBNB.

I've been looking at places non-stop that would allow events/parties using the filter and was curious to know is it not uncommon to throw minor parties?

basically, I'm a tour manager of a musical group called swe swe and we're currently on tour in Pennsylvania. We're looking for a place to throw a party for 20-30 people as well as go snowboarding in the area of Pennsylvania near Scranton.

We are in our mid 20s, and feel that we would host a respectable party with the only disturbance of maybe loud music (hence looking for a private area)

The party would be thrown for 20-30 people like stated, but only about 5-8 would be staying the night which would be reaching the majority of listings requirements/rules.

Moral of story, is it appropriate to throw parties if it's allowed on the filter but to just check in with the host? I feel as if honsest is the best policy.

@Brian828 Keep looking.  Your attitude is right and I hope you find something.  You’re right that you can find such a place by using the filter for “allows parties/events.”

One of my listings (in Maine) allows parties, and I’ve been asked multiple times about wedding receptions.  I ask that for events like that, the guest pay a venue fee of $10 per person (to cover the extra cleaning) and gets some insurance to cover damage and injury.

That's correct, but AirBNB is linked to my Facebook and I'm not going to change my Facebook profile picture for the sole purpose of renting an AirBNB.

If they would like a photo of my face, I can provide that at any time as well as my ID upon request.

We already reached the results I needed for this posting and I found a leniant host. So I believe this doesn't need to be ongoing anymore.

@Brian828 I think those profile changes are helpful. One note, abb blanked out part of your info. Would be good for you to go back and find a work around. Just have to be smarter than the censor robots. Good luck.

@Brian

I had a request to host a child's party in one of my Apartments, when I inquired why they did not want to host the party in their own Home, silence ensued, so let me fill in the gap, they did not want their house or apartment cover in cake and vomit that can be associated with children parties, by the way, it was for about ten children and their parents.

don't go there...

Well there's a difference between throwing a party at a place for the sole purpose of not wanting to clean kids throw up and cake, and throwing a party with your buddies that live 3 hours away.

We're not renting a house because we're afraid of ours getting messy.

If we didn't have to travel, we'd be way better off. But this is the situation we're dealing with.

@Brian

I won't mince my words, anybody that would allow their home to be used by a complete bunch of stranger for a party particular of musicians, relying on the "Host Guarantee" for insurance would need their head examined.

In fact Brian you're taking on a hell of a responsibility if you think you can vouch for circa thirty people unless of course, you talking about the New York Symphony orchestra or some such agust body.

I am strongly against to have a party in my property of any sorts. Nobody can guarantee what will happen in the party. And AirBnb does not compensate you enough for the damage loss and extra cleaning fee.

Here are a few photos after a party in my house even though I have explicitly stated no party and no events in my listing. I have no smoking signs on all rooms doors and living room and kitchen walls. However,  trash was in every room in the 3 bedroom 2 bath house. More than 20 bottles of alcohol were consumed. Trash collected and damaged furniture were shown in the photo below. Towels and blankets were missing. Furniture was broken. Carpet was stained in several places in the bedroom.

I hope you found a place! Some AirBnB owners can be quite rude & stuck up but always filter “Parties and Events” Cheers!

@Caitlin119  How interesting that you consider hosts not wanting to take a chance on getting their places party-trashed to be "rude and stuck up". Your attitude is exactly why hosts turn down requests from those who think like you.

@Sarah977  I have been a HOST before first of all so don’t speak on my attitide like you know me before I put you in your place. Second, I’m talking about RUDE hosts who are stuck up & never take a chance or hear people out if you get offended you must be that host. I don’t need to request to throw parties when I have a home to do it in THANK you. Don’t try me.

... with the only disturbance of maybe loud music ...
I know this is an old conversation, but it needs to be said. The missing element of this discussion is the loud music. AirBnB rentals are in residentials neighborhoods. In my neighborhood, loud music anytime is unacceptable. AirBnB renters need to understand that they are guests in somebody else's neighborhood and should act accordingly. You want a place for a party? Rent a party facility, reserve a shelter at a park, but stay out of my neighborhood. Thank you.
