Hi guys, so im in the middle of doing the accounting for my listings on airbnb, and i was wondering if a.) anyone else here is bemoaning the fact that airbnb can only send us our money in dollars, which i get sent through paypal and then have transferred to my bank account and sees all the fees (the dollar to peso conversion is lower than what it is supposed to be and the bank tranfer fee is 150 pesos off the bat) and what if ever, anyone has some suggestions about how to bypass this? and b.) if anyone has done direct deposit for the fees through any Philippine bank and if so, did they have to open a dollar account to do so?
Hi, I am also wondering myself!! I just started mine through Airbnb, and how will they pay me??
Hello! I was wondering how many guests you have had here in the Philippines? I am interested in hosting as well, but Im concerned about the security of the house and the items inside - against theft and damage
Olive, dont put nice things in the house, also, let somene in your family, Co host to check your house all the time.
I am just wondering the same thing, check PAYONEER
Hi @Marissa37 to find out which payment methods and currency's you can use
I have been doing Airbnb for years now. However, I represent a business.
1) If you will transfer from your "business account" on paypal to BPI, there is no fee. So you are getting a lower payout solely from the conversion, no bank fees deducted. This is proven as I have been doing it. But whenever I transfer from paypal to Maybank, I get a deduction of 250 each time which I was made aware as I called Maybank prior to doing the transfer. I guess it will all depend on your bank.
2) If you are using a "personal account" on paypal, you need to meet up to 7k in order to transfer for free. I used RCBC Savings Bank to transfer lower than 7k and I was only deducted P50.
Solution: Set up a business paypal account or if this is not possible, link your bank directly to Airbnb and not involve paypal. So far, we get exactly the payout on airbnb, no deductions. As far as I know from watching the meeting of Airbnb with hosts, they mentioned that Airbnb's cut covers the bank charges, etc. So far, this has been consistent to what's happening. So try linking your bank directly. Anyway, it takes the same amount of time if you route it thru paypal.
Paypal method - you get paid in a few hours but transferring to the bank takes 2-3 days
Direct to bank method - you get paid in 2-3 days too with no deductions, less process for you
Best scenario: Going back to the business account, you can withdraw to your paymaya card. You get paid thru paypal in just 4 hours, then you can withdraw money from paypal to your paymaya account REAL TIME. Yes, that's right! At the first 5 transfers, it took 2 days to get to my paymaya then came a day when I get it instantly. Like it is the real meaning of technology that works real time, right! So I get the pay out in a day. Maybe the system trusts the regular transactions happening so it got converted to real time. Or they improved their system's communications, i have no idea! it just happpened. Paymaya is good as an atm and debit card (mastercard/visa). You can pay your bills (meralco, pldt, globe, even insurance companies) thru paymaya app. You can withdraw the money with P15 deduction on any atm, except BDO (not sure why). It never worked on any BDO atm. In a nutshell, money is yours in a day, with no deductions at all. This is the best route to take from my experience.
I am not promoting paymaya, I just find it very convenient and efficient so I became an advocate 🙂
Hi Mary Rose. You need to have a BDO or RCBC account to directly transfer to a Paymaya account so maybe that's why you can't withdraw from a BDO ATM. Have you tried withdrawing through an RCBC ATM?
Hi Rose! When you said you represent a business, did you get a business license for your listing and if so what type and how much tax do you pay? I’m planning to convert my condo into an airbnb but looking to what my obligations will be in the Philippines. Thanks in advance!
Hi Mam Karen, no need to get a business license to become a host on Airbnb, you will just signup to airbnb application and that's it. If you have no time to mange your listing you may assign CO-HOST.
Hi Joanna. I don't understand your statement that "Airbnb can only send us our money in dollars". I get all my payments from Airbnb in Php. They are transferred directly to my BPI bank account with no deduction of any fees (aside from the Airbnb 3% commission). Is it because you are using Paypal that your payments are made in US dollars?
If you choose Bank transfer it will ask you to login via Payoneer which is just the same as Paypal right?
HI I'm a new host I have my first guest, Dec 15 to 22 already received the rent. I just gave my bpi account with the swift code and bank code.
Hi! Ive been a host since 2016 and the payout i selected is through paypal but as mentioned above the convesion rate is ridiculous. I wanted to try the international wire transfer and as mentioned again above it seems it is a better way of getting the money. Any more experiences with international wire transfer in the Ph?
Thank you!
Hello everyone!
Great morning to all!
I would like to ask for your help concerning my thesis research on AirBnB, Your opinions as a traveler/guest are essential to my study to better understand the guests perspective in terms of price; location convenience; home benefits; local authenticity; novelty; sharing economy ethics and interaction. The survey will take only 10 minutes to complete.

I would be very grateful if you could also share this link with your friends and family who are also previous AirBnB guests from all over the Philippines. Just simply share or send this message to them.
Thank you so much to all for helping me on this matter!
