Someone sent money by mistake

I had someone who sent money by mistake and I needed to cancel his reservation.

How can I send his money back?

@Edward189 how exactly did the guest send money to you?

If the reservation was made on Airbnb, then the guest sent money to Airbnb (not you) when they made the reservation. (No money should have been sent to you yet.)

Who wants to cancel the reservation? You? Or the guest?

Whoever wants to do the cancellation should do the cancellation. Then Airbnb will handle the money.

You do not need to do anything.

Unless the money was sent outside Airbnb... then it is all on you.

He sent it with the "Send or receive money" option. I didn't receive anything so I also thought that Airbnb should handle it.

I had to make the cancellation, and the guest was already ok with it.

That's not possible - the guest cant send you money before a booking is confirmed. You may also now have made a mistake by cancelling the booking from your side. Usually there is a financial penalty for doing so, which is taken out of your next payment from AirBnB.
