I had guests that did not break any items in particular but DID create a homemade fire pit in the yard leaving rocks and logs everywhere, left over flowing trash (and we’re in bear country), sticky floors, filthy grill, and had the thermostat left at 90 degrees (check-out rules say set to 65 degrees). I know our cleaners will have a fit with this and we now have a couple of hours of cleaning the yard ourselves. So, can I take from the deposit for breaking rules and leaving home trashed? Or is it only for broken items in the house? Thanks!!
@Cassandra124 You don’t get to decide about “taking” from the deposit, but rather some random CS person gets to decide if they will deign to try to charge a guest for damage.
Read a few threads about how that works & decide. Key points: damage claims effecting reviews, claims timelines, how often claims are rejected.
Good luck
@Cassandra124 You can put in a resolution for extra cleaning, noting the condition of the yard, the grill, and everything else and saying how long it took to clean. Then you'll just have to see if the guest agrees to it.
