Taxes - what exactly is being taxed? cleaning fees? Service fees?

Hi all,

 

I'm a host in NC where Airbnb remits my Occupancy taxes on my behalf. I have to pay General Sales and Use Tax (North Carolina) General Sales and Use Tax (Pender) Accommodations Tax (Pender) Accommodations Tax (Surf City).

 

What I'd like to figure out is what is being taxed.

 

I have the following charges:

Rent

Cleaning fee

Service fee (Airbnb)

 

Then the Occupancy taxes and fees and Total. So is the Occ Tax and fees on everything - including cleaning fee and Airbnb service fee? Or just on the Rent?

 

Also, does anyone know how the Airbnb Service Fees are figured?

The Airbnb service fee  for guests is variable percentage, mostly between 13 and 18% (that is what i experienced), it is depending on some factors, read more:
