Has this happened to you? I just received a booking for next weekend. Then I get a text from the person asking for checkin details. I respond through airbnb with my normal response letting them know the keypad will be set to the last 4 of their phone. Then they cancelled. I’m worried they are going to go to the next airbnb and do the same until they are told where a key is. The profile is from Vancouver WA and joined airbnb this month. The photo was also immediately removed from the profile.
Did you report the situation to AirBnB?
i reported the profile but not sure that worked as there are only a couple of options to report that didn’t match this situation.
We never provide check-in information until the day of arrival and after the home has been cleaned and is ready for the guest. We've had guests "mix up their days" and arrive the night before, want to enter a property early even before the previous guest was gone, etc. To us, this is a safety/security issue.
we usually do the day before but don’t set the keypad until the day of checkin. but good point re: someone getting their checkin days mixed up.
@Julie694 So you think they want a key so they can rob the place and no record, where the cell phone check in will link them to something traceable?
I think they are out there fishing for an airbnb that will say something like “the key is located...” But not sure why texting would be any different than asking for the checkin details early thru airbnb.
