Torn about writing less than good review

Hello,

We had weekend guests check out today.  This past Friday was check-in day for them, and my cleaner went in and did the changeover cleaning for their 3:00 p.m. Friday check-in.  Today when my cleaner went to the house, she told me these weekend guests had taken every roll of toilet paper and every roll of paper towels with them.  There was quite a bit in the supply cabinet when they checked in, and when they left there was nothing left in the cabinet.  My cleaner leaves more than enough in the kitchen and bathroom for guests, and there was no reason for them to go into the cabinet.

This issue is more than simply replacing the stolen paper products.  We do not live in the area, so we now have to buy more, travel 50 minutes one-way to replenish the cabinet, and drive 50 minutes home before we had planned to do so.

My cleaner said they left the house neat and clean so there’s that, but guests helping themselves to items that are tucked away and obviously not complementary is unacceptable.  I had anticipated guests helping themselves to maybe one, maybe two rolls—but I did not anticipate guests taking all of my supplies!  I do leave them a basket of snacks, K Cups, tea bags, bottled water, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, toothpaste so they should not have felt like I owed them something.

I cannot say say they were excellent guests because excellent guests are respectful, and cannot say I would welcome them back anytime because I would not. I welcome any suggestions on how to review them.

thank you.

Good clean guests who wiped out my supply cabinet. Not recommended.

Yes, it happened to me once. Am organising a locked cupboard.

First, put a lock on that cabinet. If it's available, there are some people who will help themselves and justify it somehow.

As for the review, I would say some along the lines of "XX and group left the apartment clean but we were disappointed to find that many of our extra supplies in the closet were taken, including X amount of paper towels and toilet paper (throw in a ballpark number.) Unfortunately, we cannot recommend XX based on this lack of respect." Leave it at that. You do have the option to block the guest so they cannot contact you again.

@Emilia42 Thank you—this is very good advice!
