US/tax. I want to reduce my rental cost using airbnb, or is it better to find a permanent roommate

What is the better way to reduce my rental cost? I rent 2br and want to reduce my expences for this rent. I can make $1500/mo on Airbnb or find a permanent roommate for $1100-1200. If I have to pay taxes from income I received on Airbnb ($1500 - 15%) it will be $1275. And I don't have to pay taxes if I share flat with the permanent roommate, so it will be a little less, $1200/mo. and I don't have that irs/income-tax staff.  

Am I wrong? Did I miss something?
