I checked in and the place looks clean but upon using things I can see it’s filthy. Last guests hairs on the floor, makeup & stains on white towels, dirty food plate in microwave, dried food in the oven, chicken bones on the floor, food crumbs and hairs in the freezer, food stains on the walls.
The host came, and ran around frantically but said nothing apart from - It won’t be cleaned until you leave!!! He made me feel uncomfortable by constantly looking at my chest which resorted me putting on a jacket in his presence.
the home has a strong perfume odour which is flaring up my allergies and asthma, and making my eyes water. I couldn’t find anywhere it’s coming from (neither could the host) but said I’d have to open windows all day - its 5 degrees cel - it’s cold.
The WiFi is incredibly slow, think of dial up internet... it’s slower! After work I need to do paperwork which has to all be done from my data. Can’t even watch a Netflix movie without fuzzy picture and constant freezing.
I also hear scurrying on the wooden floors and found some mouse/rat poop but have yet to see the rodent. All my work stuff had to be left at work because I work in a hospital and couldn’t risk bringing anything here.
I’m not usually one to complain and really don’t expect everything perfect but feeling uncomfortable and dirty, what can I do. It’s my first night of a two week booking. I honestly just want to leave, but with the host strict no refunds policy I’ll loose just over $650 plus I’ll have to pay for a hotel.
I’m also concerned how to go about it because when I originally made the booking, I had to change it for a week earlier, host didn’t want to.
Then I tried to cancel half the booking, host didn’t want to.
Then I suggested a friend took over my end half of the booking, host didn’t want to.
I suggested using second room for a co-worker for the week and host kept the second paid week, host said no unless I paid an extra $30 a night. However I paid for the ENTIRE space but he’s locked off two bedrooms and wants extra money to use.
there was no compromising with them, even when airb&b tried!
now I don’t want them thinking the complaints all has to do with this.
what should I do?
