Why does airbnb allow a guest to book an end date the day after my last date available?

I have a place available from December 23 to 30. A guest was able to book from December 24 to 31. His booking duration extends into the grayed out part of the calendar. How is this even possible?

Hi Doreen,

When looking at your Airbnb calendar, any date that is not shaded/blocked is an available bednight, meaning the guest would be able to stay that night and check out the following morning.

If you needed the guest to check out on the morning of the 30th at the latest, then you'd need to have shaded/blocked the 30th so they couldn't stay that night.

I hope that helps.

If you have somebody arriving on the 31 then this is the way the system works. The previous guest should check-out by 11am (on the morning of the 31st) or whatever your check-out time is. You have 3 or four hours till your next guests (still on the 31st) checks in after 3pm (or whatever time you specify for checkin). You have to clean fast but if that's too much to handle then block a date automatically before and after a stay.

Under 'Availability settings/Reservation preferences select the pop-up for "How many days do you want to block between reservations?"

or block it yourself
