Worried my guest will outstay their booking

Wow, after reading some experiences has me a bit concerned now. I have a guest whom booked for 8 days, he is to checkout this Friday. He and my husband have became kinda like friends with in the short timehe's been here as convos are related to similar work interest. He tells my husband of which  later my husband delays to me; Mr.#  lost his home in MS! He then request to stay longer. I think he may try to hog our rental as well. I intend to respond to this guy inquiry through text stating his initial booking and that it can not entend past the days he booked. Oh yea, I forgot to mention he had mail arrive at my home last Thursday the day he arrived. I was immediately concerned. He tells me today any mail for him are tools for work. I respond thanks for NOW telling me. So, I do have documentation if anything were to go "left."
