my guest is trying to pay but on the calender the period is shown as unavailable

It could seem as unavailable while there is a pending verification, at least that happened to me once. What does it say on your calender?

That happened to me as well and it turned out to be a problem with the guest's payment verification.  Ultimately it was a glitch in the Air BNB system and required Air BNB intervention.  Suggest you contact Air BNB.
