being punished for blocked days?

hello fellow airbnbers,

I listed my room in July and have been really satisfied with the results. We have been practically fully booked for 4 months straight. but the other week, I had to block 8 days for my parents who were coming to visit me from home, so I needed the extra bedroom to accomodate them. now all of a sudden, for the first time in 4 months, we havent gotten not even 1 inquiry from potential guests. I feel as though airbnb has buried my listing because of those blocked days, since they couldn't profit from fees that could have been made for that week. It is strange that when I had alot of activity going on, the inquiries and requests were non-stop, and all of a sudden, dead silence? I know it could aslo be the month of November, but it feels like the streets are packed with more tourists now than in the summertime. I even tried editing my listing so it could possibly show them I am still here, and still active... Any ideas??

Where are you showing up in search results?

@Trinity-And-Cristina0

Not at all....I often block dates in my calendar and it makes absolutely no difference.

It's much more likely to be that you are now in low season and/or others have joined BNB in your area and have been pushed up the rankings.

Hi @Helen3 you might be right, i checked the search engine and so many new rooms have been added... I guess we all must have our turn 🙂

Hi both,

did you check in case you blocked your calendar for longer by mistake? It can happen. Also, try logging out and looking for your listing as if you were a potential guest, do you show up? If not the contact the help centre or better still, post on their Facebook or Twitter/private message.

Another tip is the adjusts your calendar quite often, so I heard, this may not necessarily be true by the way, but if you do apparently it bumps your listing up. Good luck and let us know if it works out for you.

Happy 😊 Day.

Hi @Louise26 thanks for your kind advice! I have readjusted my prices on the calendar, hopefully this will generate some traffic. have a great day! 🙂

good luck.

p.s. I'm also very quiet now that summer's over, were right by the sea, yet there's a lot of other things to do.

Perhaps I'll go travelling and recharge my batteries!

Hello, I have samo problem. Apartment was renovated for 3 months and now it is online again and there is no inquiry for days. Price is normal, apartment looks great but no inquiry. When you look for free apartments, it has been listed on the end.

@Emina1 very frustrating indeed 😠

Hi @Trinity-And-Cristina0,

New listing get pushed to the top of the search result list, to make sure new hosts are booked easier before they have any reviews etc. After a while, this perk is gone... Could also be why you are not getting that many new enquiries/bookings!

Cheers,

Babs

I have that feeling but will call and ask them. I have been booked s lot for the last few years but nothing for November. Concerned as well!

@Carla156 thanks Carla, let us know how it goes!

I will let you know what I find.  How much do you charge per week in dollars?  I want to visit there? Have you been to LA?

Hi @Carla156  You should really come, Prague is an absolutely amazing, vibrant city. In US dollars its about $25 a night 🙂 our door is always open if you would like to visit! And yes, I have been to L.A. a long time ago...about 10 years ago. It was really fun!
