booking window

Hi,
I have my settings at 6 months so guests can't book more than 6 months into the future (which I have triple checked and my calendar is showing is open for the next 6 months) but the Airbnb help person keeps telling me that our listing is actually blocked for the next 6 months and then it is open. When I look at our calendar it shows as available throughg until December so I am completely confused. I imagine something has gone wrong on the Airbnb side and a guest has now booked in March next year, which we can't take at this stage.

Are there any experts in this area?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Daisy

@Daisy3 we used to have a 6-month booking window, and it did work for me. (We now use a 9-month booking window, and are considering going to 12 months.)

But it matters very little if the 6-month window is working for me. What matters is that it is *not* working for you.

Have you tried setting the booking window to 9 months or 12 months to see if that works for you? I know it would not be the 6 months you want, but it would be better than the 17-month window you have now.

@Daisy3 I do not know what your settings are, but I also see you calendar as being open and bookable from now until Nov 30, 2019.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for your reply.
I have checked the settings multiple times and they are set correctly so guests can only book within the 6 month window but Airbnb help keep telling me that our calendar is actually blocked for the next 6 months, but is then available!

I know this is incorrect as I just looked at our listing from another computer and searched listings in Pambula Beach in August and our place came up as available.

It should be available for the next 6 months and then blocked.

I don't think the person on the help line had any understanding of what I was saying, as she was stating the opposite.

A very frustrating experience!

Thanks for letting me know about the calendar.

Daisy

@Daisy3 contact Airbnb again and tell them what you are seeing.

And tell them the first Airbnb support person you talked to wasn't able to help, so please could someone take a closer look at your calendar.

Also, if you tag people by typing the '@' key, it helps notify us when you write a message.

@Matthew285 thanks I have re-contacted them and someone responded so will hopefully sort it out.

Do you have any experience with the 6 month booking window not working?

thanks,

Daisy

@Matthew285 I have used the 6 month window in the past and it has worked well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try a 9 month window and see if alleviates the issue.

Do you know if there is a way to contact Airbnb tech department to inform them of the issue as I can see that others have experienced this too.

@Daisy3 I tend to use the Messaging option when contacting Airbnb (instead of phone calls). It at least creates a record of the interaction, and makes it so you can forward things you were told to other Airbnb support people.

Your only way to contact the actual tech people is to contact the Airbnb support people and ask if they can let the tech people know.

I have no idea if the information is passed on or not, but that is the only way I know of.

I tried changing the window but it still didn't block out dates after the period.

@Daisy3 yes, I just checked your listing again, and I still see the calendar open until Nov 30, 2019.

This must be very frustrating for you.

@Matthew285 it is! I am hoping to hear from someone soon. I feel so bad for the guest who has booked in March next year and paid Airbnb, only to be told there has been an issue and we can't accept the booking.

@Matthew285 I did initially contact them via message but then they phoned.

Hopefully they will sort it now.
