cancellation and money refund when its the hosts fault
Hi, my host informed me that he will not be able to accomodate us because of some technical problems so I have made a cancelation and selected the field that says it is the hosts fault. My question is: am I going to get a full refund including airbnb service fees even if the host doesnt accept my cancelation in the next 48 hours??
@Petra175 You should not cancel on behalf of the host: it is their responsibilty to cancel the reservation if they are the ones wanting to cancel. Typically if you request the cancellation, you still have to pay the Airbnb booking fee. If they cancel, the fee is refunded to you. Why did they ask you to cancel rather than cancelling themselves? Did they give a reason?
Unfortunately i have already made the request not knowing this info and then it popped into my head that it is suspicious . The host said he was unsure how to make the cancelation request...
I also found in the airbnb help saying that the airbnb fees can be refunded in this case if the host accepts the cancelation in the next 48 hours, but they dont state what happens if the host doesnt accept it?
