All I see is mass confusion among hosts, more than our fair share of bottom feeding "guests" who seem to love to abuse private homes, and nothing forthcoming from Airbnb besides equally confusing and conflicting responses from whomever is being assigned your pleas for help. I have basically given up on any real consistent clarification of their rules from Airbnb phone bank and email denizens. It's a bit of a joke especially concerning removing personal attacks from abusive guests in the reviews. So it goes as Kurt Vonnegut said... My problem is I was told by Airbnb to list the whole house and try to explain the rate is for individual rooms and NOT the entire place and to list each room separately as well. Impossible to link even 2 rooms and the house in my old place and now I have SIX BEDROOMS and have forgotten about trying to link any of them together or to the whole house listing because it does NOT work. I find myself telling people to find the individual room listing when they want to squeeze 8 or 9 people into what they believe is a house for the price of a single room and NOBODY SEEMS CAPABLE OF DOING THIS VERY SIMPLE THING. I spend an inordinate amount of time going back and forth in messages with them trying to get them to understand even how to locate the listings which all show up ON THE SAME PAGE AS THE WHOLE HOUSE LISTING... yet they fail to either scroll down the page or click on the "135 more listings" link after the first half dozen or so Airbnb features and shows no others!
I also have been telling folks to just repeat the request a few more times on the whole house listing page to book more rooms than one and I will block out the dates and assign them rooms [which all have names from Colonial America circa 1787] yet have zero idea if that works as it seems everyone just gives up in frustration or are shocked they can't get a six bedroom hand built log cabin for $75 a night.
Does ANYONE know if guests can repeatedly book a listing for the entire house to book more than one room [which I am guessing doesn't work now] or how one can actually sync the awful calendar system to block dates for individual rooms or somehow get guests with more than 2 adults to find an book enough rooms to accomodate their group [only 2 adults per room now as I've had people try to put a half dozen or more into a single room believe it or not, sorry no parties or orgies here thank you very much]. I have also come to the realization that people who say they have more than a couple people are actually looking for a party house they can destroy and stop communicating when I make it clear it is NOT a party house which is clearly spelled out in all my listings along with no pets [been there done that horror show], no extra guests showing up unannounced [we had no idea they were coming but it's ok to cram them in right? NO IT IS NOT, EVERYONE CAN LEAVE NOW, NO REFUNDS]. Usually nips their planned frat house wedding festival blast in the bud. So any real solutions or more commisserating from the much put upon hosts?
