guest phone number after departing

Hi there,

My guests departed yesterday and took a set of my house keys with them. They let me know that they had them and asked if I would like them posted back or left at the ferry terminal before they left the island. I asked them to leave them with one of the companies at the ferry terminal and to let me know which one but I haven't heard back from them and can't view their phone number anymore.

I have sent another message but no response. My next step is to claim the $10 it will cost me to get more keys cut but I would rather talk to them first to see what they have arranged.

Is there anyway to get a contact number for a departed guest?

This won't help this time, but possibly in the future...

I record and retain the phone numbers of all guests, for situations just like yours.

Another good reason to retain the guest's phone number is that people happen to be forgetful and they do leave their stuff behind once they check out.

I specify in my House Rules that I may be able to mail them their items agaist the cost of mailing + handling fee. This has helped my guests understand that leaving something behind and having it returned to them comes at a reasonable expense to them.  Amazingly, since I introduced this rule, no one has left anything behind. Great! A little incentive to be careful has helped us all!
