if i cancel a booking with more than 7 days advance notice do i encour penalties

If i cancel a confirmed booking (as a host) with more than 7 days notice, do i suffer penalties charges? (from the website i noticed that there is a 100$ charge if the cancellation is within 7 days notice)

Yes, you do suffer penalties and you get an automated review posting saying "reservation was cancelled 7 days before arrival" - something that would ring the warning bells with future potential guests.  You will also loose your chance to become a superhost for one year.  Your calendar will remain blocked for the cancelled days.

Could you work with your guests and find them somewhere else ?

In addition to financial penalities, your listing may drop visibility if you cancel a reservation. I would highly recommend not to cancel if you can work around it.
