insurance

Thanks for reaching out!  We have been loving our hosting experiences with Airbnb guests. We've only been "live" since July 15th and have had almost every night booked since. Our question concerns insurance. We thought Airbnb covered us for property damage and liability, but have heard from a few other hosts that this is not adequate. Can you advise please. We are located on the south shore of Nova Scotia.

@Deanna176 absolutely do not count on Airbnb to cover you in the case of damage. There are numerous exclusions to their "guarantee" and there are many, many reports of hosts with serious damage who met the claims requirements yet were denied. You need your own STR insurance. First check with your homeowner's insurance provider. Many will not cover you at all if you are doing Airbnb. If they will not, they may be able to recommend a provider who will. (In the US, this would be primarily Proper or Foremost, I think.)

Also Allstate on the us.
