newbie host - any hidden Airbnb policies/charges to watch out for?

I just learned that Airbnb charges hosts - and guests - for the Smart Pricing "feature". I feel rather deceived since this wasn't stated anywhere (that I've found, at least). Not to mention that the tool didn't do anything, from what I could tell. My trust of Airbnb has taken a hit and now I'm wondering what other "surprises" may await me as a new host. Any other policies or charges that Airbnb doesn't make readily apparent (or that you learned of the hard way)? Thanks in advance.

The most important one is to never cancel. Various penalties involved, such as a permanently blocked calendar for those dates, sometimes a financial one and no superhost for 12 months. Good question!

How does airbnb charge hosts and guests for the smart pricing feature?  I use this and have not been charged, as far as I know?

That is what one of the community experts told me (whose answer was supported by other experts), but days later (not to mention many phone calls and emails) I'm still waiting to hear back from Airbnb with an answer. Several employees have not been able to tell me why the fees changed (for both myself as a host and my guest) when the reservation was requested of a different host account. I may need to start a new post requesting tips on how to get ahold of competent support staff; seems to be much more difficult than anticipated.

Post a link to where you read that.

I think you are in error.

Also wondering, not that I would want to use it but that is for other reasons.
