who's responsibility when basketball hoop falled when guest play the game and scrached guest's car

Per my guest's description, my guest was playing basketball on my driveway. Somehow basketball hoop falled and scrached guest's car. I was checking the basketball hoop and base just a couple days ago and it is secure.

No accident pictures since they pushed the basketball hoop back and moved the car to the road before they called me.

I am talking Airbnb right now. Anybody has the similar siduation? Who is resposible for the repiring cost?

I'd say you are responsible and your home insurance should cover it, subject to proof etc.

I think you should ask yourself the same questions your insurer would ask :

- was the basketball hoop self-standing or fixed to the ground?

- did your guest picked the parking spot by himself or you have told him to park exactly there?

- Is it possible to turn over the basketball hoop with a ball or someone had to jump on it / hung himself on it?

.... these sort of questions. As far as I know, the responsibility depends if this accident happened because of guest's rough negligence or because the hoop was not fixed properly.
