I mentioned this in a thread elsewhere and another host suggested I post it here.
I don't know how realistic this is, but I heard Airbnb has already done something similar for Paris arrondisements, so, given that London is so huge and has so many listings, would it be possible to add filters so that guests can search by zone (I couldn't see anything like this in the filter choices)?
Many guests don't know which specific area of London they want to stay in, but they know they want to be close to the major sites. A lot of hosts misleadingly describe their location as 'central'. Maybe the host thinks it is, but a guest might be disappointed to arrive and find that location is a 40 minute train ride to the centre and that there is no underground station within walking distance.
How to define 'central'? Well, Transport for London divides the city into zones, from 1 to 9, with 1 being the most central. Perhaps the filters could be classified in the same way as travelcards, e.g. Zones 1-2, Zones 3-4, 5-6, 7-9.
Another filter that would help is if they could specify they only want to see locations within walking distance to a tube station, e.g. 15 minutes walk or less.
I don't want to put hosts with less central locations at a disadvantage, but I imagine their listings might appeal for other reasons, such as price, or a guest looking to be near an airport or conference venue. I just think it would be more transparent and fairer to give guests the choice as London can be very confusing for newcomers.
