I get so frustrated with the airbnb site (probably because I ran a web development agency for 20 years) but this is one of those things that is just irritating. 

 

When you log into their system as a host and click MESSAGES it defaults to TRAVEL and I have to click to HOST. This is just poor design. If I'm logged in as a host, have the messages default to host and remove the necessity to click it. 

 

This is just competent UI design.

I've also started to see this since some time now.

If my memory serves me then I don't think that it was always like this.

Most likely a year old bug.

I agree with Martin! If I'm a Host, I use my Messages as a Host 95% of the time - and we travel and stay on airbnb as Guests quite often. But it's still 95% as a Host. So why does it default to my traveler messages every time? If it's a "bug" then it happens occasionally, due to bit rot (or whatever causes computer "glitches"...) This is a "feature", ie, it's designed that way, and the only explanation is... Bad Design!
