Airbnb left house unlocked and house burgled

We had guests arrive late last night. We left the front door locked, as when we are asleep upstairs we like to lock the door and I am OCD about ensuring the door is locked. The guests had to use the key safe to use a key to get in. The guests left the door unlocked over the night and when I came down to set up for breakfast at 6.30am this morning, I noticed that the playstation was missing and someone had been in the house over the night.

Will we be covered under Airbnb insurance? A very unsettling time as I am 8 months pregnant and feel sick that the house was left unlocked and someone came in the house whilst I was sleeping.

That's HORRIBLE. I have a pain in the ass guest who has left my door unlocked at least five times. I live here with my ten month old daughter. I am so frustrated I literally want her out. She doesn't seem to understand that leaving my door unlocked is compromising my families safety.

The Insurance is liability for you as a Host if a Guest is injured, property damaged.

You can ask the Guest to reimburse you and if that fails go though the Resolution Center.

Have you involved the Police?

Please consider switching to a digital door lock with an automatic locking feature.

Check the links below to understand the Airbnb insurance and you should contact them directly for accurate information. Based on posts from other guests, I'd assume that involving the police will help to get Airbnb to provide better assistance.
