Do you have some other life hacks for extra squeamish hosts like me? Please, share. Thanks a lot.
@Olga464 I think we all feel the same way, don't use 2 pillowcases, use pillow protectors that have a zip.

@Olga0, we use the pillow protectors on pillows and then have the vinyl mattress protector as well as 1 cheap mattress pad [thin], and a 2nd more plush mattress pad, with the hope that nothing will get through all those layers to the actual mattress. We also recently bought a gadget that supposedly uses UVA rays to sterilize various surfaces, so now we run that over throw pillows, electronics, kitchen and bathroom counters, and door handles before doing the regular cleaning.
I would definitely stay at your place)))
I'm not going to lay my head on a pillow without a protector. Or a mattress for that matter. Plain nasty.
Never say never
I host remotely, but use the house when I can. I keep my own pillows and linens in a separate closet and in the house rules I say, "These are reserved for the owner. If you use them you will forfeit your entire security deposit." So far no one's touched them! And my housekeeper reports on things like that, plus she gets a bonus when she does. 🙂 So worth it because I'm squeamish too!
I use protectors and ALWAYS double cover pillows and mattresses - even my own.
This is my first time hosting. I’m hoping all goes well. I worry about bed bugs and those with feet problems in the tub. 🤦🏼♀️ Damages or missing items.
@Olga464 Pillow protectors all the way!! We buy the bamboo pillow protectors that prevent yellowing coming through from the pillow to the outer pillow case. Otherwise, if a guest sweats into the pillow it will often yellow stain the lovely outer pillow case. This kind of protector is expensive but in the long run you save hundreds of pillow cases and pillows!
