Bad guest smoking weed in my house

Hello

I have some guests who are here until Saturday morning.  They are staying in a private room and bath upstairs in my home and have been here since Monday.  The intake for the hvac is right outside their bedroom.  I sleep at the other end of the top floor.  When I go upstairs to my bedroom I can smell the marijuana.  I have confronted them and asked them about it.  They have told me that they are not smoking in my house, but they leave to go smoke elsewhere.   I know this is a lie because the smell is gets stronger at night and only when they are there.  You cannot smell anything downstairs  and part of upstairs, but you can when go into the bedrooms you can smell it as it is coming through the hvac for the top floor.

I am getting angry because I know they are lying to me and I don't like lies.   All they do everyday is stay in the room, sleep and get high and I'm tired of it.

I've been hosting for a year now and I've had about 100 bookings and out of that only 4 have been like this couple. They are living their lives off of Airbnb.

What I mean is they have no apartment or home to go to, this is how they are living week to week off of Airbnb going from place to place.  I have thoroughly enjoyed Airbnb and made great friends and have had some wonderful guests, however  I don't like this type of guest who are literaly living their lives like this because they can't get an apartment for one reason or another.

So my question is:

#1. What should I do about the guests who are currently here smoking weed?

#3. As I have said 96% of the guest I've had I have really enjoyed and have been really great.  However I don't like the guests who are using Airbnb as a way of life and how they are living day to day, some have no job they are just in the house getting high, and just sitting here with no productivity.  How can I prevent from getting guests who are using Airbnb as how they live day to day?

Thanks in advance

@April145

you can contact Airbnb and ask them to cancel the rest of this booking because your guests are breaking your house rules and you want them out.

When their booking is terminated your guests has to leave because they are actually trespassing. If they don't want to you can call the police to escort them.

The you will not be paid for the rest of their stay.

Please give them a truthfull review and thumb down.

@April145   In your listing description, under Interaction with Guests, you say "If you want to just stay in your own space, that's okay".

I suggest you remove that line from your listing description. You are basically saying you are fine with guests just holing up in their room all day. I agree that when it's a shared home situation, it feels creepy  to have guests who don't interact with the host to some extent, never emerging except to use the bathroom or prepare food, like some sort of vampires.

Guests don't need to be told that it's okay for them to keep to themselves- some are more private than others, and you'll see little of them, others are more sociable. But that line basically encourages them to hole up in their room, and might even be attracting these types.

Hey Sarah.  Thank you for your suggestion.  I didn't think of it that way.  This is helpful. Take care
