Cancellation of room

A guest has initiated a cancellation and i obliged now my calendar is blocked and the money refunded. In my settings i placed strict and now i feel like i am being punished by helping out a fellow airbnber. I have rarely cancelled bookings and in this case the reservation is more than a month away. Is there i can speak to airbnb straight? i cant seem to find any contact or email to speak to airbnb about this.

Hi @Robbi0 This is a very sneaky trick that Airbnb is playing on hosts.  It is now asking guests that want to cancel to get the HOST to cancel!   I recently saw this.  Something like "Tanya would like you to cancel the booking".  NO WAY IN HELL.  Tanya can cancel if she wants, but why would I cancel for her?  I saw this and called Airbnb support to complain.  This is a very tricky way to get the naive or inexperienced host to cancel because it's being presented very innocently - but the reality is that a host cancelling a booking has very serious repercussions.

 

I would suggest that you call Airbnb support, complain about the way this cancellation was requested and handled, and yell a bit.  If you don't get the dates opened up, call again in another day and try with another agent.

 

This is a very bad way to do business, and I'm sorry that you got tricked!
