Cancellations website overrides agreed policy without owner participation

I am a super host. Airbnb has been a constantly  improving website and company until very recently. There is a tropical storm headed up the West Coast of Florida and we are likely to get some bands of rain in all likelihood after the guest would have departed. My listing is in the NE section of the state and other then some rain not expected to be impacted by the tropical storm. The Airbnb customer service line allowed the guest to cancel the reservation with in 25 hours of arrival with a full refund that was in violation of my cancellation policy. They never called and simply did it allowing a guest who probably didn’t want to go to the beach if there was a threat of rain to cancel without any penalty claiming it was a safety issue. Can’t get them to answer other then safety issue. These folks used to be on their game but that’s no longer the case. Allowing folks to cancel because of rain is pretty amazing as it will now become the go to reason for cancelling if it looks like there may be rain. Tried to reach them by phone and the phones don’t work. Hitting an electronic prompt returns to the prompt. Asked via email for a call, again no response. I just wonder what’s going on at this company for them to start falling apart?

Yes, you are right @Luke151  and it is understandable that you are angry, I would be too.

Airbnb is well known to do this type of things ...but I am surprised they didn't stop after this:

and after this  🙂

No wonder so many hosts are leaving.
