Cancelled a booking

I had to cancel a booking as it was in a date range where the owner uses the property a year in advanced

I always set the property to request a booking first as i need to check with the owners

However it appears on this occassion i missed setting this and a guest was able to do an instant booking

i had to cancell the booking and now airbnb are going to charge me $50 for an oversight

 

How can i request airbnb to not charge me this!

 

Its a year in advance!

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

If its your first infringement give them a ring as it does say no charge on 1st cancellation

If it was a year in advance perhaps the guest could move their dates? Or was it a year in advance because it was during an 'attractive' time of the year?
