Cancelling because my guest accepted an offer for a different night instead

A guest accepted an offer from me to stay on a different night than the one they first booked.

For some reason the original booking is still showing but the guest has been and stayed.

I need to cancel the guests future booking so that they get their money back but I don't want to lose my superhost status for cancelling it.

Is there a way around this?

I think you would need to contact airbnb for assistance on this one.  They are the only ones who can help you cancel without penalties.  

Guests can cancel for their end and get refunded according to your cancellation policy, but even with a flexible policy, they will not be refunded the airbnb fees.

In the future, simply change the booking using the change/cancel tool.
