Before we hired somebody to hire the cleaners for us, we built up a list of independent cleaners we sourced from Handy, Homejoy, and similar services. We regularly hired new cleaners for a first-time "audition" and we brought about 25% of them back for a second time or more.

There were still multiple times we found ourselves on our own hands and knees scrubbing after somebody flaked the day of a check-in.
