Does not using price tips affect how your listing is viewed?

The airbnb price tips are recommending MUCH lower prices than what we average for our listing.  However, where we used to be the first listing on an airbnb search in our area, we are now back about 5 pages!  We are wondering if airbnb penalizes hosts for not setting the price where they suggest?  Anyone have any insight or knowledge about this?  We also understand it could just be a large increase of supply in the airbnb market in our area...

Hi @Heather9, nah, I don't think that going with ABB's price tips in and of itself affects where you show up in a global search.  Many hosts search for their listings without using any filters and are concerned with where  their listing shows up.  Keep in mind that in reality, guests use filters such as location, price range, amenities, etc.  With those filters in place, you might show up on page 1! Make sure your amenities are accurate.

Here's a helpful link to see what ABB uses for their search algorithm:

Good luck!

There's no way to know what page your listing on when a potential guest does a search. The order is different for everyone based on many factors as well as some randomization of similarly ranked listings (so that listing have an equal chance of being seen over time).
