Does this happen to you?

Hi all -

I've been a host for over two years, and I have had very good luck with all my guests. I don't lower my price, I keep it slightly higher than what Airbnb suggests, and that seems to attract a respectful clientele - they still get a good deal for the price as compared to a hotel.  Because of the area we are in, we mostly get people coming to attend weddings (we are in Dripping Springs, the wedding capital of Texas!), so that is a good clientele that is overall respectful of our property.

My slight gripe, and it's not enough to take stars off their rating, is when guests move things and don't move them back! It's not that big of a deal, nothing is damaged, but I just wonder if that is common Airbnb guest behavior? I always put things back the way I found them if I move a chair, etc.

Just curious if this happens frequently to other hosts?

Happens all the time to me, @Stephanie1126 . I have decided that I am happy they feel they can make themselves at home, are comfortable enough to make the space their own.

This saves me from grumbling while I move everything back 🙂

Well, that's a good attitude to have!

@Stephanie1126: It has happened a few times. We have slider pads on teh furniture so its actually quite easy to move stuff around. One guest actually set it up different and we really liked it so we kept it that way.

@Barry-and-Lera0  That happened to me once, too - a guest moved a bench to a completely different part of the house and I left it there because it made sense.  🙂

@Stephanie1126  I'd just make sure that your furniture has sliders under the legs so they can't scratch up the floors and hopefully they don't bang things into the walls.

I've never had this issue myself because I just list a small private room for one guest and there is literally no where else to move the furniture to and still be able to walk around 🙂

I remember a post here from a host who said her guests had moved one specific piece so often and to the same place, that she eventually realized it worked better there.

@Stephanie1126  One of my house rules is to NOT rearrange the furniture.  I had one guest shove a chest of drawers about 2 feet and up against a window.  Another took a large chair from the bedroom and placed it in the living room.  One group moved the very heavy dining room table by several feet.  I often find lamps unplugged.  No idea why this would be necessary as all outlets have 2 places for plugs.  I've even had guests rearrange the plants inside the house.   It drives me crazy.
