Hello, I have a guest who has a reservation for 7 (seven) nights. Now she would like to add an extra person for just 2 (two) of the nights. I looked at change feature but it only lets you change all the nights to 2 people, seems to be the same at the guest end.
Any ideas how I could send an alteration with just the 2 nights for 2 people and the rest of the reservation stays at one (1) person.
If not any ideas how the guest could initiate it?
Thanks for any help.
I'm having the same problem
@Susan252 I gave in and called them - this is how you do it. Also known as an 'Alteration Request'
1. Go to ' your reservations' in the menu bar - Click on it
2. You will see a new page with all your reservations - at right of Guests reservation you will see the following in red:
---Print Confirmation
---Change or Cancel
---Report a Problem
---Message History
CLICK Change or Cancel
3. Change the subtotal amount by adding whatever the extra amount is to the subtotal that you see.
4. Airbnb adds its fee on top
5. Then it sends the alteration/change to the guest
6. The guest needs to accept the change
7. When the guest has accepted the change, the new amount shows up.
And that is it!
I have a lot of guests that want to add or remove guests for certain nights during their reservation. I don't worry about changing the actual reservation (number of people) but instead I figure out how much this is going to cost and then I let them know that I will go in and request an alteration (for the price only) and then they will have to approve the alteration. This works well for adding or subtracting guests and I haven't had any problems. Just make sure that you do the math correctly as to not short change yourself!
@Jennifer93 Thank you. I did not know I could just change the subtotal alone - makes it so much easier to deal with changes and adding people / extra's etc.
You should change the number of people too to retain appropriate Airbnb coverage in case there's a problem later on.
To clarify though, that the extra guests are only for part of the reserved time I always send an extra message:
I just sent you the alteration in which I upped the no. of guests to include your....
At the moment the system doesn't allow entering different periods for partial bookings, so
the total price is for your original booking for x guests plus your extra visitors during the 2 nights if Aug 28 + 29
at $x per person per night.
That's clearest and avoids anybody maybe saying "But the reservation says all of us for the whole period?"
