So my guests typically are great at leaving reviews. There is the odd one that doesn’t but I feel that 98% of the time I get a review from my guests.
However just recently, my last 5 guests in a row have not left reviews even though they’ve all told me that they enjoyed their stays and would be back.
Has AirBnB made a change to how guests leave their hosts reviews? I’ve noticed that the formate for leaving our guests reviews has changed somewhat. So maybe theirs has as well??
I’m curious if other hosts have had a sudden drop in their reviews.
Cheers
@Jen246 it might be they didn't get round to it or that they never leave reviews. Some guests don't.
We have a statement in our welcome message that we appreciate reviews and always leave them ourselves.
At least four or five did not leave a review. Blah blah blah we loved your place. Still no review.
Yes, I’ve noticed a drop off. My last 4 guests have not left reviews. There might not be a specific reason, though. For me guest behaviors of most types come and go in spurts.
To be honest, after hosting over 700 groups in 3,5 years, we have to force ourselves to write or just copy-paste a few words for our guests. Even brushing my teeth is more fun. I suppose people are just tired of giving feedbacks, ratings and reviews after every uber ride, every CS call, every night spent in Airbnb... I know we are.
In our short time of hosting, we have only had one guest not leave a review. The crazy thing is, it's the only guest that we did "extra work" for to make sure they were having a 5-star stay. This person, had zero reviews herself but had been a member since 2017. That was a sign myself, but also didn't assume that she's been a member and just never booked a stay. Wrote a glowing review in our guestbook, and hope it translated into an online review...nope. So to answer your question, not yet, but we are anticipating it with every stay because you never know. I stayed at an Airbnb a few weeks ago, and the process of reminders were similar to host reminders to write.
Would love to hear if anyone has any tips to ensure a guest review without being too obvious?
I make a point of emphasizing how important reviews are - both as a new host and to members of the Airbnb community. Some guests don’t realize how much it affects the algorithm. That being said, I’ll ask no more than twice. After that, I leave it alone before it feels like I’m .bothering them.
