Guests who don't wash hands: How can I politely prompt them to do so?

We are hosts who share our home with guests. I make sure to keep the house extremely clean and we always get good reviews reflecting this. However, I've noticed that quite a few guests don't wash their hands. I find this habit rather revolting and end up wiping doorknobs and light switches with wet wipes when the guests aren't looking.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can broach this subject in a way that's not rude? Would a sign in the bathroom be over the top?

Personal hygiene is just that ‘personal’. Hand washing depends on when, where and how often. For some its a phobia (washing too often). At the ned of the day its your house so your rules. If I saw a sign like that I would think I am back in kindergarten and not be overly amused.

We are hosts who share our home with guests. We just rent out a room so if guests don't wash their hands after using the toilet, then touch my doorknobs, my dishes and my countertops, it goes beyond the personal to affect the people who live in the house.

If they behave like kids, treat them as kids and put SIGNS in the bathroom.  Just a thought.
