Good Morning,
I have a guests expected to arrive on Tuesday but there is a possibilty that a major storm is heading our way later in the week. The 'best case scenario' is that they have to do all of their exploring ducking in and out of torriential rains. But there is the is chance that their flights on Friday are canceled and the power is out. I want to reach out to them and make sure they are aware of the impending weather (everyone doesn't stalk the weather channel before travel like I do). I want to give them ample time and information in case they want to or need to change their travel plans. Anything else I need to do?
Have you had to host during or prior to impending rain or snow storms? What is the best way to handle this?
Appreciate your feedback.
Tracie
I dont think there is much you can do other then notify them of what is coming, making sure your listing is prepaired for the heavy rains. Maybe having rain gear available or something for them to ocupy their time.
Thanks for your reply, Sam. I've done exactly that. I've also left them a bottle of wine. If we have to be stuck inside there should at least be wine. 🙂
Hello @Tracie24,
Lovely to meet you. I just wanted to check if you have seen @Sam397's great tips here?

Lovely to meet you as well, Lizzie. Yes, I've just read Sam's tips. Thanks!
@Tracie24 I assume you're referring to Hurricane Florence- while it's good to let your guests know about these kinds of situations, I kind of doubt that they are not aware of this one- you don't have to stalk the weather channel- this one is all over the news, hard to avoid knowing about it, unless your guests are coming from overseas.
@Tracie0, Now that the storm is over I was wandering how things went, I hope things ended well.
Here in the midwest, we have to deal with snowstorms, thunderstorms, and tornados. When there is a weather event, I notify the guest of pertinent information:
• whether there is a watch or warning
• how long the event is expected to last (e.g. when the watch or warning ends)
• local media options for staying informed and the name of our county
• emergency procedures if the sirens sound (usually going down to the basement)
• availability of blankets, pillows, emergency lighting
• how to stay in contact with the hosts
I'm debating whether to get a weather radio for use in the rental. Does anyone have one? Is it worthwhile?
The other issue is that usually during these events, flights are delayed or cancelled. Luckily our arriving and departing guests haven't overlapped, but I worry about how to proceed if this does occur. Is this something that Airbnb CS will handle?
Any other suggestions?
