Hotel Taxes - Occupancy taxes

I normally pay my own hotel occupancy taxes in San Diego where I rent.

I am new to AirBnB, and not sure if they are paying them for San Diego.  The info page, seems as if they are, but I am unsure.

Can anyone let me know in the area, what they do?

I've been paying HOT tax to the city and state (in TX) for a couple of years now. But recently Airbnb started collected and paying on owners behalf - or at least I got a notice that this would be happening. How do I know if they are indeed collecting from my renters, and how is it that they know how to pay on my behalf when I haven't provided them my tax ID?

Airbnb only collects the state tax at a rate of 6%, they dont collect the city tax. The city tax still has to be paid by the host.
