How can I promote my listing on printed materials?

How can I promote my listing on printed materials?

In our market, we still have a lot of people who share by word of mouth and (don't cringe) through business cards. I'd like to create some postcards that include a direct link to our listing however, I'm wondering if I can get a "vanity" URL or link that is "print-friendly." Is this something that Airbnb can provide? Or does anyone have suggestions for going about this?... other than not using printed materials for promotion.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and consideration!

Hi @Cadye0

Airbnb does not offer (yet) vanity or personalized URL's...

There are a ton of free and paid URL shorter on the web...
I always use Google (Not personalized)
http://goo.gl
https://goo.gl/ep4YxE

But there's also https://bitly.com/ and http://tinyURL.com
Both you can personalize...
I would include a QR code on the card as well as is becoming more and more popular...

A friend recommended i make up a name and buy that domain name. Its a retro furnished grannyflat so for $19.90 godaddy registered me up 2yrs as www.retrogrannybnb.com.au with a redirection on it to send people straight to airbnb listing page. I also set up a Facebook page that i will put on flyers.

Hey ....good luck with whatever you choose to do

I have a fundraiser that I am organizing for a club of which I serve on the board.   We will have silent auction, raffle and door prizes. It would be really helpful if AirBnB's website would allow me to print out a 5X7 formatted file or 8.5X11 so that it could be used in locations that a card stock piece would work. Yes to QR codes!

If anyone has a workaround I'd appreciate the tip.

Thanks

A few years ago, Airbnb allowed us to select a shortened name like "Forest Cottage Waco" and I think it worked as a url (airbnb.com/h-forest-cottage-waco).  I can't locate mine and wonder if they stopped doing that.  Anyone know?

Hey @Doug242

There's a bit more info on how to do that here:

Hosts can create a personalised web address to direct people to their listing with a custom link.

To create or delete a custom link:

  1. Go to Listings
  2. Select the listing that you’d like to create a custom link for
  3. From your Listing details, find Custom link and select Edit

Each listing can have one custom link, so hosts with multiple listings can set up one for each of their listings. Hosts using professional hosting tools can also create one custom link for their pro marketing page.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Emilie!  It was there. I was just remembering it wrong. Instead of …BNB.com/h/Forest-… I was putting a - instead of a /.

@Doug242 No problem, I'm glad I could help! Are you thinking of updating your custom URL or were simply looking to confirm what you had picked back when this feature became available? 🙂

It’s fine at Forest-cottage-Waco. I just couldn’t figure out the secrete handshake. Thanks, again!
