How did you find your Airbnb property?

This is mostly a question that will apply to remote or whole home hosts, but may apply to home share hosts too. How did you find the unique space that you use for your Airbnb? Was that your original intention for its use, or did you turn another space into Airbnb as a new way to earn income or maybe meet new people? Were you perhaps inspired by staying in an Airbnb and scoured the market for something similar?

Curious!  I am a bit "house crazy" and haunt real estate listings in my area, cross country, overseas...(this *might* rise to the level of an addiction. Might.) I am always on the lookout for unique places that I want to buy. Trouble is that houses are expensive...so help me live vicariously through your stories!

@Laura2592 I bought our house and it came with a "shed"... it was so scary the realtor wouldn't walk into the space with me.... It was cheaper to rehab the space than tear it down and throw it away.

At first it housed our contractor while he worked on the main house, after that project was done we had a furnished livable space and here we are 3 years later...
