How do I cancel a pre-approval that has not been confirmed.

1. The fact that when I look on airbnb information about how to cancel a pre-approval the advice is to open the message chain and click cancel pre-approval, but there is no such option. I thought that after 24 hours the preapproval would lapse if not confirmed but this hasn't happened and this perapproved unconfirmed reservation is blocking my calendar.

It sounds like something else is going on. A preapproval would fall off after 24 hours and would not block your calendar. A preapproval just allows guests the option to book instantly if you dont already offer the feature. But you can preapprove multiple guests for the same dates. I would call Airbnb to see what is going on.
