I suspect an extra guest is planning to stay in my place

I have a booking coming up next week - the booking was originally made months ago. The booking is for two guests.

Yesterday I asked the guest how many are staying and she said three. I informed her that there is a supplement and she said that her partner has had to cancel and it will just be two.

I strongly suspect that all three will stay as it seems unlikely that their plans changed at the same time as I informed them of the supplement, but I think my only option is to cancel the booking at this late stage and risk not getting another one.  I wont be around for check in/check out so won't be able to check on them.

The guest has 5 good reviews from three unique hosts, all in my city.

What would you do? Cancel the booking? Insist on the supplement? Let it go?

We have had similar situations. I have just let it go because we can support extra people at our place, but that's your own decision. It's annoying and disrecptful but that is one of the risks of not being there at check in. Sorry about that!

Would not the fine for canceling be more than the extra guest fee etc etc?

Have a friend check to see how many people are there.
