Is there no way to confirm the extra guest fee or price per night of a booked reservation?

Is there no way to confirm the extra guest fee or price per night of a booked reservation?

Once a reservation is booked there is no way to see if an extra guest fee was charged b.c. it is not listed in the payout fees. It is presumed to be included in the price per night but since there is no way to see the listing price for booked dates there is no way to confirm that either.

In short, there is no way for a host to confirm the price per night or the extra guest fee for a booked reservation!

If building trust between hosts and ABB is a priority then hosts should be able to see both their pricing for dates already booked (in the calendar) and the extra guest fee (in the payout breakdown).

Hopefully, I'm wrong. If not how do hosts compensate for this error in the software design?

I check to see that they have booked for the correct number of guests.  If they have booked the correct number of guests then the extra person charge has been added correctly.  My prices don't change that much so I'm also able to verify from the math ($129 + $10 = $139 a night for 2 people).  E.g. we charge an extra $10/guest per night for each guest after 1.  So if it is a couple coming and they have booked for 2 guests - the extra $10 is in there; however, sometimes people say they're coming with their partner but have only booked for 1 guest (or say they're bringing 3 others and have only booked for 1).   In this case I send a change request to them adding the other guest and explaining our price structure.  Not sure if I'm helping/explaining correctly but am able to verify that our bookings have always correctly added the extra person(s) fees automatically as long as the guest is booking accurately.

Pretty much the same same for me. It is obvious from the booking, I.e. number of guests and price per night, if the extra person charge has been included. I’ve never experienced any confusion over this.

Thank you so much for the replies. They are clear. I see that if your prices are set then  it is easy to do the math and verify. For me, and anyone using price recommendations, that is not the case.

I factor in both ABB’s pricing suggestions, a third party app and my own familiarity with last year, local events, holidays, the season and day of the week. My prices vary a lot so the method described isn’t useful.

At the very least ABB should recognize that the inability to see the price of a booked day or to confirm extra guest fees, strongly discourages anyone from using ABB’s price recommendations.

Interesting to note that ABB has added a line to the payout that states that the extra guest fee is included in the room fee. I wonder if it was from the feedback I submitted?

@Han24, I'm frustrated by the same thing!  So I somewhat obsessively check my calendar as a traveler.  Search for my locale, find my place and look at the nightly price, click through, enter some dates I know are open and number of guests, and hover the mouse over "book."  There you'll see what would be charged and can check the math.

I have enabled Smart Pricing, setting what I would charge as my minimum and Airbnb's recommendation as my maximum.  So far, it looks good, because as the high summer season approaches, the price goes up.  Great.  BUT - in some weeks it goes up a few dollars every day.  And once someone has booked, you can no longer see the nightly price.  So the math is almost impossible to do.

Here's a booking that came in and covered a week where the price ranged from $518 to $524 a night (up from my minimum of $425 a night).  Factor in 3 extra guests at $50 a night each, and then factor in the weekly 10% discount.  There is really no way for me to do the math.  And so I usually send a Twitter message to the help desk and get them to break it down for me.

@Han24

and it would be useful to see a breakdown by nights. Some days are more expensive (holidays, weekends, New year...) but if guest book a few nights just an average price is shown.
