Until recently Airbnb had split view on desktop - you could see the list of listings on the left and the map on the right side of your window. So you could mouse-over the listing on the left and you would instantly see where it is located on the map - the small price bubble would change the color.
It was great, user friendly, easy... ! 🙂
Now, Airbnb has changed it. WHY OH WHY ???????????? 😞 😞
This is what you see now when you choose your destination (default setting is SHOW LISTINGS and you can change it to SHOW MAP )
.... so what can you do with this endless list of listings if you can't see where they are located ? 😞
Ok, you switch to SHOW MAP.... and this is what you will see :
... now you see the map but you can't see listings photo.... you have to click (not mouse-over!) at each price bubble to see it.
BUT !!! ....
when you click on it , your map will move down from it's previous position and will stay there even when you close the listing's preview ! So if you want to preview another listing in the same street you will have to move the map up, on it's previous position !
How stupid is that ?????
To be able to see let's say 10 listing's previews you will have to adjust/move up the map 10x !!!!!
Airbnb.... I think I speak in the name of all Airbnb hosts - IF SOMETHING IS GOOD AND WORKING - DO NOT CHANGE IT !!!!!!
Concentrate and change to all those bugs and things which are not good, not user friendly or not working properly.
Hosts can give you a long list of things to improve if IT sector needs fresh ideas.
For example:
1) Split listing / map view
2) Add a pet fee
3) enable non-instant book option for certain dates only (like New year eve for example..) while all other dates still remain instant bookable.
4) enable the possibility to change the number of guests included in the base price for certain period . ( for example off season price is for 2 guests and during the season is for 3 guests) . This way large homes wouldn't be booked by small groups during the high season.
... continue the list...
p.s.
At least instant book is not a default setting any more . Good job ABB!

Hi @Branka-and-Silvia0 ,
everyone who starts out with airbnb is going through a learning curve and so did I. When I started out I came up with real thoughtful threads on serious subjects including well layed out statistics and the like, I think You've seen them.
Meanwhile my main activity on the german CC is „Bilderrätsel“. There's an endless 300 page thread in the german CC where a CC-member loads up a picture to the platform and the others have to guess what it is. I'm pretty good at it.
Take a look:

Please God, make it STOOOOOOOP!!!!
Just wait until tha map only shows base price so you have to scroll over each listing to see the total price with cleaning fee etc.
Still not fixed here - which I assume means the entire North American market via web is basically unusable. Or maybe this is just the new normal.
@Pete28isn't it only if you search for "any dates" ... but if you set certain dates then you see nightly price with cleaning fee included?
Anyway... since split view is gone I noticed how our booking rate has changed - before we got a new booking every few days and now we get 5 inquires/bookings in one day and then 10 days of silence... no wonder, guests lose their patience on the first page and if we are not there - forget it.
No, even if you specify date and people you get base price on web. App still works as normal. To get any booking I've had to drop price to $40 night and add a cleaning fee. Completely destroys search on price 😞
Merry Xmas Airbnb !
@Branka-and-Silvia0 I think they are still playing with it. 2 days ago I had the "Show map" button on the left and now its gone
This is my basic screen today with the map always on the right and cleaning fee not included even if dates are put in.
yes, they are playing with our nerves, and income ! Every new solution is worse and worse, done against any common sense.... not to mention being user friendly.
I mean , look at your view... what is it? Left coloumn with filters would be better in a top menu/ dropdown list like it was before instead on the left where it takes 1/3 of the screen resulting the map being to narrow.
You don't need to be web designer or a genious to figure it out at the first glance (even though I've been working as web designer for 10 years)
@John1080@Jeff158@Branka-and-Silvia0
what is also interesting in Jeffs screen is that the map is only showing base price for the dates, so it's not actually possible to figure out the full price without going over each listing.
I have tried Twitter, bugs and suggestions on the need to fix pricing. I can't see the logic in only showing base price - it's just frustrating for guests.
I am seeing a different version here Jeff!
When I put in dates the total price of all listings is being displayed without high-lighting a particular listing!
Without putting in dates the base listing price is displayed, which to me, is the way it has always been so I can't quite work out what @Pete28 is saying has changed. You never were able to see a total cost without specifying something specific......dates, people. Until you put something into one those boxes you can't calculate a total price just by glancing across the map.
But as soon as I select a date all listings are shown on the map as a total price and clicking the listing gives a full breakdown of costs
It seems to be evolving all the time as you say Jeff!
Cheers.....Rob
Here is a current screenshot with no input from me, just a page search....
I see a base pricing, just as I always have. If I put in a date, or anything else this is the screen I see this following shot.
All listings will now show a total price. These screen shots were taken less than 10 minutes ago.
Cheers......Rob
Ah, all the improvements!!
