New Multi Calendar August 25

So we got a new multi calendar today, and I find it to be Horrid.  It is dissapointing for two reasons: design, and implementation.

The new multicalendar added a scroll, I'm sure some people felt that was important.  I would rather have a scroll than not, but not if it means losing most all other functionality the calendar originally had.

Examples:

The multicalendar now does not show guest faces. - This is important becuase the human eyeball sees distinct images better than bunches of characters mashed together.  It is also important because sometimes I have two guests with the same first name.  Also, after something like 400+ bookings, a name is ZERO helfulness in remembering the guest compared to the picture, which is always unique and lets you see at a glance who it is.

The multicalendar now shows the name to the right, AFTER it shows 'Accepted' and the price.  As you can see below, many 1 or 2 day listings don't show squat.  Literally, they show nothing, a $, or accepted but not the guest name.  Why even bother putting 'accepted' in there?  That's what the color green is for, stick with that.  Honestly, more color coding options please, don't abandon.

The multicalendar now doesn't show a single complete listing name as you can see below.  All of them are half blocked out, making the listing titles also 100% useless.

The multicalendar now does not let you click on a range of dates to quickly and easily edit them.  This was a massively helfpul feature for making quick changes, and is now dumbly broken.  When you click on a date, you now click on a second calendar(100% redundant???) to click on the dates you want to edit, and wait yet again for something else to pop up to make those edits.

This brings me to the second part, implementation.  These changes are clearly 100% bad.  This isn't opinion, all this functionality was lost, and now the multicalendar is almost useless.  I wonder how on earth this new system was even designed, or passed the muster before being set up.  It seems clear that they did not communicate with a single host, super host, or power user when they asked dev department for a new calendar.  WHY?  They could have literally called any single one of us, rolled this out for testing, and we would have pointed out the many obvious flaws.  Finally, why not make a seperate URL for the new calendar so people who still want the old one and don't want the new broken one can still access a working calendar?

These pages pull data from a database, they could easily have a had a new url for new calendar until it tested well, instead of taking away working one.  I can't fathom how these changes happen.

@Tony134, how you get it to turn on? Is there a choice between the old and new?

@Tony134

hm... so I supose it is not possible to select a period and change a minimum stay for it without milion clicks?

It is something I don't like with new calendar (version before this one ) and loved with an old one (we had until a month ago)

😞

Why are they changing good things we are used to?

@Tony134

Multi-calendar? Where's the link for that? I just created one with Google Calendar last night and to think there was one in Airbnb the whole time, but I've never seen the link. I also notice from your pictures that your admin panel looks completely different from mine.

I'm in the same situation I have 10 listings, I'm not in front of my computer all the time so instead of the app I use the desktop site from the internet browser on my phone . you can't even see anything on the multiview.  I wish I could post a picture to show what it looks like but it's not allowing me to post a picture.  So if you're on the road & need to use your internet browser on your phone to get your multi calendar you're going to be in big trouble

your calander actually is not bad. This is ALL 20170825_224259.pngI can see, its actually takes up the whole screen with exactly what u see. i didn't crop it. Im using chrome. Great it must be a glitch on my acct.

Do you have a smaller phone? It seems that first column has a set pixel size when I took a look at the code behind it, and that could be why it's taking up all that space.

I actually just looked at your listings... I knew you were a baller when you mentioned that's how you use the calendar, and I now see you have easily crushed my goal of 1,000 reviews....  Nice!

Gonna have to come stay at your listing next year to see what tips I can take home.

Ok, Update, and answers to everyone's questions one at a time.  First, the update:

One part of this, I am wrong about.  As Mary says, it is difficult to select a group of dates easily in desktop view in mobile now (desktop view of listings in multicalendar on mobile is best, in chrome or web browser, you would normally select the browser option for 'Desktop page.'

However, if you drag with your mouse, you can drag across the dates you want... and the best part, something I have been salivating from the mouth for:  You can now edit pricing and availability on multiple listings at once!  This is HUGE and great!  Drag from one box to any other, and it will grab everything in between, Wonderful.

The rest, I stick by, gosh my eyes are screaming at new calendar, I need those faces and names.

Answers:

@Fred13 - It seems to me some features roll out earlier and later to certain hosts.  I'm pretty active so it seems I'm seeing features sooner now.  Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure correct.  You could try logging into your account from https://www.airbnb.com/host to see if it makes a difference.

@Branka-and-Silvia0 - I have not had any Multicalendar where I could change the minimum stay.  That may be in the listing calendar, which is different from Multicalendar.  Multicalendar shows all your listings in a row.

@Tim-and-Holly0 - Click on Listings tab at top of page, then go to Multicalendar.  It actually doesn't link from any of the calendar pages I believe (LOL).  Also, my admin panel just changed to hosting centric(which I'm happy about), may have to do with link above.  I recently tied a fresh AirBnB account that had never traveled to it(for housekeeper to see guest arrivals), and when I did, that was the first time I saw it, it was the default for the new host.

@Mary312 - Unfortunately, I have no advice to offer you for the moment.  If you're already using the desktop view in mobile, you're way ahead of the game already, good luck.

Ah, about to add a 2nd listings, then maybe will appear. Very cool.

Where are my notes?  I allow pets and keep track of whether they've paid or not via notes and it was visible right there near their wonderful faces!  Super important - love the old calendar and I don't need a pic of my listing - I need pics of their faces and their names!  It's hard to keep track and this just makes my job super hard with 7 listings - arghhh.  If you want to have a change to all why not have one more row that lets you slect multiple dates/prices and another column that allows you to check the listings you want that info to affect?  also, you definitely need test hosts to vet these crazy ideas. i can't see a host out there that would go along with this unless they were new with just 2 listings.

Thanks but very unhappy!

Lisa

I also just can't get over the "Accepted" stamped all over the place. It doesn't need to be there single time on a calendar of upcoming bookings, epic redundancy!

Itotally agree, the new multi calendar is compeltely useless and gives me price (who cares) instead of name. To have an overview with names as well as see my notes which I use to block rooms for non Airbnb guests is essential for the tasks we have with multiple listings. I already contacted Airbnb and they are gathering feedback and I really hope to reinstall the old multi-calendar. This is a BIG fail!

The NEWEST software update to the Manage Listings - Multicalendar display has truncated the visible field length for Listing Name.

1.  The actual field length for Listing Name is about 50 characters in field length and the NEW displayed field length  is now only 20 characters.  I was told this morning by the Superhost Customer support specialist that I have to move my mouse over each of my 15 listings to see which one I need to modify pricing for, or add notes to.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE as a work-around.  PLEASE make that field variable length where we can broaden or shorten it, or absent that capability PLEASE EXPAND the VISIBLE displayed field length for LISTING NAME back to the 50 characters as it was BEFORE.

2.  Notes are not visible, even when they cross over many days.

3.  I also like to see the name of attached reservations.  Please restore the previous calendar, although scrolling across a month was truly cumberson.  Hate to say this - but the OLD, Orange colored Multi-calendar was much nicer - able to see a whole month.  Just use smaller print!!
